The Ultimate STEM Challenge is back!

Learn about biodiversity and design your own home for nature to get involved in this year's challenge!

The Ultimate STEM Challenge is back! This year it’s all about biodiversity. One of the biggest risks to humanity is the alarming reduction in wildlife and diversity on our planet. That’s why this year’s Ultimate STEM Challenge aims to support teachers with high quality materials and help pupils aged 9 to 14 learn about the topic and inspire them to take positive action locally.

The USC resources are designed to support the science, geography, design and technology and computing curricula with different activities for primary and secondary pupils. Video lessons from wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, together with lesson plans and homework activities, bring the topic to life in a practical and accessible way.

The challenge encourages pupils to put their knowledge into practice in their own community, designing their very own home for nature. The pupil/team with the most creative and innovative design will win £3,000 to bring to life their home for nature, while the runners up will receive £1,000 each to make their designs a reality. The competition closes on 3 March 2021.

There has never been a more crucial time for young people to learn about the importance of biodiversity. Download the resources now and get those creative ideas flowing.

Since 1968, bp has been investing in STEM education in the UK and this year is no exception. We aim to support teachers and parents and help to engage thousands of young people through free, curriculum-linked resources and by raising awareness of exciting STEM careers.
