Bringing Science to life with Energising Futures

The Energising Futures programme is designed to specifically increase young people’s understanding and enjoyment of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

What is Energising Futures?

Energising Futures (previously bp Educational Service) is a free STEM hub offering more high-quality curriculum-linked resources than ever. This new, expertly curated collection of resources is designed to bring real-world science to life for young people by introducing them to the skills they’ll need to access ‘green’ jobs and so help bring about the transition to increasingly cleaner and lower carbon energy.

Over the past year we’ve worked in partnership with highly experienced teachers to evolve bpES in a way that fully supports the needs of teachers. We’ve teamed up with The Association for Science Education (ASE) to ensure teaching best practice. The result is Energising Futures, which we think is a truly inspirational programme that links science teaching to real-world applications of science and careers.

Our editorial approach

Energising Futures is inspired, designed, and curated by experts in STEM education. We Are Futures, a specialist brand and social impact agency, works with The Association for Science Education (ASE) and partners from academia and industry to give teachers the high-quality support they need. We Are Futures, working with ASE, have developed and are responsible for the content of the Energising Futures resources. Together, we bring science alive for young people in classrooms all over the country. Energising Futures is made possible by funding from bp to help support the STEM skills development needed to create a diverse, high-quality talent pipeline for the future.

 Based on research

We conducted in-depth focus groups with highly experienced educators to understand what resources they needed to excel in the classroom and support their learners. Their feedback helped inform our approach to creating curriculum-linked content that’s flexible, accessible and easy-to-use, all presented within an Energising Futures ‘Collection’.

Collections content

Energising Futures is a future-focused education website, largely made up of content ‘Collections’, grouped content that makes it easy for teachers to find relevant resources for their classroom needs. Teachers can then pick and choose the content that is most relevant to their teaching style and pupils’ needs.
